I earned my B.S. from the University of Tennessee and my J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. My wife and I reside in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
In case you're interested, below are some items that I like and like to talk about:
My favorite movies (in no particular order, except "Patton"):
1. Patton* 2. Slap Shot 3. Stalag 17* 4. Mr. Holland's Opus* 5. The Great Debaters* 6. Where Eagles Dare 7. The Blues Brothers 8. Kelly's Heroes 9. Dirty Harry (including all the sequels) 10. The Green Berets. *Should be required viewing by every student by the time they go to high school
The entertainers I've most enjoyed watching perform:
1. Elvis 2. Clifford Curry 3. Alabama 4. The Beach Boys 5. The Swingin' Medallions (I got to sing "Double Shot" on stage w/ them in 1975, although my buddy Rufus claims he pulled the plug on my mike - I don't believe him to this day).
My Favorite Music - I burn most of my own music like everybody else so that I can enjoy every song on my CD or iPod.
1. Beach Music I by Lom - featuring Bill Pinkney, the Swingin' Medallions, Clifford Curry, Etta James, The Tams, Bill Deal & the Rhondels, Billy Peak, and The Showmen among others.
2. The Beach Boys Live at the Mall in Washington, D.C., July 4, 1980 - I'm one of only 2 human beings that I know of that has this concert recorded - my brother being the other in case I lost mine...I recorded it when Q107 (the local radio sponsor of the event) played it back in December of that year...I've now got it burned onto a couple of CDs...Dennis and Carl were still alive then, and they flat knock out all of their best songs...in my opinion, the best live concert they ever did and so much better than listening to any regular disc version.
3. Blues Music III by Lom - featuring Ruby Andrews, King Biscuit Boy, Lisa Best, Big Al Downing, and The Fabulous Jelly Rolls - you may not know the names, but they can flat play the Blues.
4. Beach Music 4 by Lom - featuring Wilson Pickett, Billy Stewart, Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs, Billy Scott & The Georgia Prophets, and Jackie Wilson among others.
5. Roy Orbison and Friends - A Black & White Night - a live performance in 1987 at the Coconut Grove in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, one year before his death, with an All-Star cast featuring Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, Jennifer Warnes, J.D. Souther and more...you can catch this performance every month or so on PBS.
Some people I'd like to meet, again in no particular order:
1. Peyton Manning, Archie Manning, Joe Namath, Snake Stabler - Some of the best QBs to ever play the game, not to mention the personality factors...just to talk football and life, plus I want to hear some Bum Phillips stories.
2. Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and Ron White - at the Waffle House of their choice at any time of the day or night; not just for the laughs, but I bet I could contribute some material they might find useful.
3. Dolly Parton - just because she's from Sevierville, Tennessee (just outside Knoxville) and seems like she'd be a blast to engage in a conversation about anything.
4. Dan Jenkins - Author Extraordinaire - I've busted my butt laughing my way through his novels and can't imagine he'd be anything but fun to talk sports and life with.
5. Susan Lucci - This one's for my wife, who's been recording "All My Children" forever and would probably go nuts if the opportunity ever arose.
My favorite authors:
1. Dan Jenkins (of course) 2. Clive Cussler (of the Dirk Pitt action series) 3. Robert Ludlum 4. Tom Clancy
How's that for a diverse group of people????????
